Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the earth.
by the light of the Holy Spirit
you have taught the hearts of your faithful.
In the same Spirit
help us to relish what is right
and always rejoice in your consolation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
John 6: 48 - 66

In what ways do you need Jesus to feed you?
What good things are you hungry for?
For most of Jesus’ public life people crowded around him. If he was teaching in the synagogue, they crowded around him. If he was walking in the street, they crowded around him. If he was having a meal in a home, they crowded around him.
But there were two times when people fled from Jesus.
The obvious one was after his arrest and crucifixion. Where were all the crowds that had followed him? Where were all those people who witnessed his miracles? Where were all the people he had cured and fed? Nowhere to be found.
The other time people fled from Jesus was when he spoke to them about the Eucharist. He said, “I am the bread of life. . . . Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” (John 6:48, 53)
Immediately after this, we read in the Gospel: “When many of his disciples heard it, they said, ‘This is a difficult teaching; who can accept it?’” (John 6:60) And a few lines later we read, “After this, many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.” (John 6:66)
Notice Jesus didn’t say, “Oh, come back. I was only kidding. Let’s talk about it. Maybe I was wrong. Perhaps we can change this teaching. We can work something out.” No, he turned to his disciples, just as he turns to you and me today, and said, “Do you also wish to leave me?”
Will you flee from Jesus or remain by his side?
The Eucharist is at the core of our faith. Let’s explore what it is and what it means to you.
Holiness Focus ...
Blessed Carlo Acutis (1991 - 2006) is a modern-day saintly teenager. He had a great devotion to the Eucharist and went to Mass every day since the day of his First Communion at 7 years old. He developed a website to display all the known Eucharistic Miracles of the world.
He lived life to the fullest but practiced the virtue of moderation. You can learn more about him in these videos.
GRACE is the assistance God gives us to do what is good, true, noble, and right.
Discussion / Reflection
Is there a person in your life that just makes you feel calm and safe?
How do you think your life would change if you spent one hour each week sitting quietly in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist?
At this time in your life, what question would you like Jesus to answer for you? (Your question should be about something that applies directly to you.)
Discuss these questions with your parents or sponsor OR write your thoughts in a Confirmation journal.

God, Our Father, thank you for loving us and calling us to a deeper relationship with you. Thank you for giving us your Son's life to save us. Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us your body and blood in the Holy Eucharist so that we might be close to you and become more like you.
Holy Spirit, inspire in me a greater love for the Eucharist and Holy Mass. Amen.

We have created a discussion forum for the Parish of St. Timothy Confirmation Group. Every week there will be a new topic of discussion related to that week's lesson. The forum is open only to those participating in the 2020 / 2021 Confirmation preparation program.
Here's where I'll be verifying your participation.
This forum is a place for serious, courteous discussion about spiritual-related topics. I don't want to see rude or unnecessarily silly comments or questions. Any unacceptable posts will be deleted, the student will lose access to the forum and we will communicate with your parents.
This week in the forum ... answer the question:
What inspires you most about Blessed Carlo Acutis' life?
